Lawyer Arrested for Instigation, Arson of Property

Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria, February 2 (BTA) - Lawyer Vladimir
Eldurov was arrested on Friday and charged with instigation and
involvement in arsons in Plovdiv and the region, Plovdiv Police
Director Plamen Ouzounov said.

Eldurov has been detained for 72 hours. His name cropped up
several days ago in a scam for compensations to victims of road
accident, Darik Radio said.

Spokesperson of the Plovdiv Regional Prosecution Office Galina
Andreeva-Mincheva said that six other persons have been detained
and charges have been pressed against them as part of a
pre-trial proceeding opened in 2014 which also involves Eldurov.
The six were charged with five arsons of vehicles and
properties, in which they were aided by Eldurov.

Two of the defendants are also charged with robbing a Greek
national and theft of a car. They have previous convictions for
thefts.

The heaviest penalty for the charges pressed so far against the
defendants is a prison sentence of five to 15 years.
