New Regional Landfill for Household Waste Opens near Dobrich

Stozher Village, Dobrich Municipality, Northeastern Bulgaria,
March 21 (BTA) - A new regional landfill for household waste,
built on nearly 39,000,000 leva from Operational Programme
Environment, was formally commissioned here on Saturday.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Environment and Water
Minister Ivelina Vassileva and MPs attended the ceremony.

"The implementation of the large-scale project services 190,000
residents of 226 settlements in the regions of Dobrich and
Shoumen. In the landfill, the waste will be treated in a new,
environment-friendly manner, by separation and composting,"
Vassileva said. In her words, some 750,000,000 leva are being
invested in the setting up of 20 regional waste management
systems countrywide. The Minister added that 550,000,000 leva
for follow-up development of the waste management systems have
been agreed under the new Operational Programme Environment.

Borissov said that construction companies will receive
5,000-6,000 million leva for work on EU-financed projects in
2015.
