MRF Candidate Wins Mayoral Seat in Surnitsa

Surnitsa, Southwestern Bulgaria, March 23 (BTA) - Nebi Bozov was
elected Mayor of Surnitsa Municipality in a second round of
voting on Sunday, according to the final results in the local
by-elections based on 100 per cent of the tally sheets,
Municipal Election Commission Chairman Aki Pehlevan said.

Bozov, who was supported in the elections by the Movement for
Rights and Freedoms, earned 1,866 votes. The runner-up, Moustafa
Alikanov, supported by the GERB party, got 1,299 votes. There
were 39 invalid votes.

Surnitsa is the newest Bulgarian municipality, established on
January 1.

The second round of voting for mayor of Surnitsa proceeded
peacefully and without any irregularities. Voter turnout was
76.6 per cent, Pehlevan said.
