Patriotic Front Unhappy about GERB's Legislative Tactics

Pleven, Northern Bulgaria, March 23 (BTA) - The Patriotic Front
is dissatisfied that the ruling GERB party tries to give
precedence to its own legislative proposals over the proposals
of the Patriotic Front, the coalition's Co-Chairman Krassimir
Karakachanov said on Monday.

"In a partnership, everyone is supposed to make concessions,"
Karakachanov said. He noted that despite the existence of a
four-party format for talks between GERB and its partners
(including the Patriotic Front), the Front did not like the way
that a recent decision on incurring more government debt was
arrived at. "We have a different philosophy: we want to develop
the economy, create jobs, tighten control over the customs
services and control by the National Revenue Agency," he said.

Karakachanov sees much potential to increase public revenues by
curbing contraband in fuel, alcohol and cigarettes. He also
criticized GERB for making too much haste about housing
rehabilitation, which can be a campaign tack ahead of the local
elections.

The Patriotic Front will press for legislative changes to make
physicians criminally liable for faking disability decisions.
Such physicians should lose the right to practice their
profession if they mislead the public, Karakachanov said.

He was in Pleven for preparations of the Patriotic Front for the
local elections. He said that in Nikopol, Pleven Region, the
Front will join forces with GERB and ABV to propose a common
candidate for town mayor and oust the Movement for Rights and
Freedoms from the local government.
