Bulgaria's Four Main Airports Handle 4.4 Million Passengers on Scheduled International Flights in 2014

Sofia, March 23 (BTA) - Bulgaria's four main airports handled
4,408,000 passengers on scheduled international flights in 2014,
up by 6.8 per cent compared with 2013, the Bulgarian Airlines
Association said. Bulgarian carriers serviced 971,000 passengers
through these airports in 2014, compared with 894,000 in 2013.

Sofia Airport serviced 3,336,000 passengers on scheduled
international flights in 2014, up by 4.3 per cent compared with
2013. The number included 825,000 passengers transported by
Bulgarian carriers, up by 1.3 per cent.

Varna Airport handled 397,000 passengers on scheduled
international flights. This implies an increase by 10.5 per
cent. Bulgarian carriers transported 12 per cent of the total.

Bourgas Airport saw 675,000 passengers come and go on scheduled
international flights, increasing by 18.3 per cent. The share of
Bulgarian carriers in the traffic was 14.6 per cent.

Plovdiv Airport recorded 102,000 arriving and departing
passengers on scheduled international flights, increasing by 12
per cent.

The number of passengers using chartered flights in 2014 breaks
down as follows: Sofia at 114,000 (compared with 121,000 in
2013); Varna at 854,000 (up by 5 per cent), including 51.5 per
cent transported by Bulgarian carriers; and Bourgas at 1,799,000
(compared with 1,847,000 in 2013), including 36 per cent
transported by Bulgarian carriers.
