Secretary General of  National Commission for Combating Traffic in Human Beings Accused of Malfeasance in Office

Sofia, March 24 (BTA) - The Sofia City Prosecution Office (SCPO)
has accused the Secretary General of the National Commission
for Combating Traffic in Human Beings, Antoaneta Vassileva, of
two malfeasances in office, the SCPO said Thursday.

Vassileva is accused of overstepping her rights between January
2012 and December 2013. Without having the right, without
having been authorized by the Commission Chairperson and without
a public procurement procedure having been conducted in
conformity with the Public Procurement Act, Vassileva concluded
directly contracts with two nongovernmental organizations for
the provision of services in temporary accommodation facilities
for human trafficking victims in the Black Sea cities of Bourgas
and Varna. According to the SCPO, the crime was committed for
benefits from the NGOs to the amount of 200,940.56 leva.

Vassileva is also accused of overstepping her rights between May
and December 2013 by concluding two annexes to a framework
agreement so as to acquire a benefit of 3,607.60 leva.

Vassileva has been released on own recognizance.
