Nuclear Reactor Switched Off  for Scheduled Maintenance

Sofia, April 11 (BTA) - The Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant said on
Saturday that its Reactor Unit 5 suspended operation earlier in
the day to undergo scheduled annual maintenance.

The plan is to carry out scheduled repairs and preventive
maintenance of the unit's equipment and systems. The reactor
will be refuelled.

The crew will implement many of the activities required to
examine key components and systems in view of extending the
service life of Reactor Unit 5 and renewing its licence after
2017.

The maintenance session is expected to end in late May.

The only other operational reactor at Kozloduy, Unit 6, is going
at full capacity in accordance with the timetable agreed with
the Electricity System Operator, the plant said.
