A Third of Cruise Ship Calls at Bourgas
Port Cancelled Over Ukraine
Crisis

Bourgas, on the Black Sea, April 17 (BTA) - Twelve of a total of
31 cruiseships which had the port of Bourgas on their
itineraries this summer, have cancelled the visits due to the
Ukraine crisis, the port management told BTA. The ship owners
have explained that they were unable to visit the rest of the
Black Sea destinations: Odessa,Yalta and Sochi.

The large cruise operators have official announcements on their
websites that they have called off the cruises to the Black Sea
due to the situation in the Crimea, said Bourgas Port CEO Diyan
Dimov.

The programme for this year's cruise season had 31 port visits
by cruise ships which were expected to bring as many as 48,000
passngers. Some of these visits were booked a couple of years
earlier.

The Port of Bourgas management hopes that the cancelled visits
will be compensated by an increase of other vessels which are
expeced after the government of Bulgaria brought down some port
charges. The reduction is by 14 per cent for passenger vessels.
