Education Ministry: In-Person Classes with Periodical Testing
Can Resume from December 6
in All Schools in Bulgaria

Sofia, December 3 (BTA) - Students in all schools in Bulgaria can return to in-person classes from December 6 under the condition that all municipalities with an infection rate above 250 per 100,000 will screen their students for COVID-19 once a week and their teachers twice a week, the Education and Science Ministry said in s press release here on Friday.

Students will be tested at the beginning of each first day of in-person schooling for the week. The ones who were absent will be tested at their first day of school for the week. Exceptions can be made for kids with special needs, who are allowed to be tested by their parents at home.

Minor students will be tested with parental consent and the adult ones will decide for themselves.

No screening will be necessary for all who have a green certificate, proof of vaccination/recovery, antibody certificate or negative laboratory test results.

Another condition for resuming in-person classes is that at least 50 per cent of the students of a single class should be tested or have a green certificate. In-person classes also depend on the overall readiness of schools to provide normal learning process while in compliance with the anti-epidemic measures.

Supplies of non-invasive tests have been provided for all students from first to twelfth grade for the December 6 screening and are being distributed.

In addition to that, in-person classes at the National Palace of Children will resume on December 6, as well, under the condition that they comply with the anti-epidemic measures. ZH/KK
