Traffic in Bulgaria's  Airspace to Increase by Some 50% Next Two Years - Minister

Sofia, April 20 (BTA) - After the opening of the new airport in
Istanbul, the traffic in the airspace over Bulgaria's territory
is expected to increase by over 50 per cent, Minister of
Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Ivailo
Moskovski said at the opening of the 54th Annual Conference of
International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers Associations
 (IFATCA) on Monday.

Jobs for air traffic controllers will grow reciprocally as the
increase is expected to reach 40-60 per cent in 2015-2017. At
present, there are over 1,700 flights per 24 hours and in the
busiest periods their number reaches 3,000. Given the present
dynamics of events, these developments will be good for
Bulgaria, according to Minister Moskovski. There has been an
inflow of new technologies and drones and a debate is being held
on how to integrate separate country-specific systems, the
Transport Minister stressed.

Regardless of the ever more frequent incidents, air traffic
remains the safest transport, Moskovski told the delegates of
the forum. The 54th annual conference of IFATCA will last until
April 24. IFATCA represents over 540,000 air traffic controllers
 from 131 countries.
