Joint Committee on India-Bulgaria
Defence Cooperation
Meets

New Delhi/Sofia, April 24 (BTA) - The Joint Committee on
India-Bulgaria Defence Cooperation is holding its 17th session
in New Delhi. It is co-chaired by Bulgaria's Deputy Economy
Minister Lyuben Petrov and India's Deputy Defence Minister Shri
Ravi Kant, the Bulgarian Economy Ministry said on Friday.

The Bulgarian delegation led by Petrov comprises the managers of
leading companies of the military-industrial complex (Kintex,
Arsenal, Arcus and Terem), and representatives of the Defence
and Economy Ministries.

Petrov expressed satisfaction with the two countries' successful
military-industrial cooperation, which goes back over 40
years. As a result Bulgaria has become established as a leading
partner and supplier of Bulgarian military products to India.
Petrov emphasized the upward momentum of trade and economic
relations with India in the defence area. The proof are numerous
contracts with India's Defence Ministry and security
structures, which are being implemented by Bulgarian companies.

The sides took special note of the preparations for the signing
of new contracts, considerably larger in volume and value than
the current ones, which bring Bulgarian-Indian cooperation to a
new level.

India met with interest the presentations of the Bulgarian
companies and state-run organizations.

Ravi Kant expressed satisfaction with the successful partnership
and development of military-industrial cooperation between
Bulgaria and India, and said he was confident about the success
of the future projects of Bulgarian companies in India.

Both sides expressed a wish to give a fresh impetus to
successful military-industrial cooperation through the Joint
Committee on Defence Cooperation. They signed a protocol
committing to develop military-industrial relations and to
implement new projects. LI/DD
