Deputy Prime Minister Kuneva: Bulgarian EU Presidency Should Make Europe Stronger

Sofia, August 27 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Presidency of the Council
of the European Union in 2018 should make Europe stronger and
to that end activities related to security should be
implemented. Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for EU Policy and
Institutional Affairs Meglena Kuneva and Finnish Economic
Affairs Minister Olli Rhen rallied behind the idea, meeting in
Helsinki on Thursday.

Kuneva is paying a working visit to Finland on Wednesday and
Thursday.

The two discussed ways to advance economic ties between the two
countries. Kuneva extended an official invitation to Rhen to
visit Bulgaria. Kuneva noted an untapped potential in digital
economy exchange.

The situation with refugees in Europe and a common EU approach
was another issue on the agenda.

Emerging from the meeting Kuneva said that the EU should focus
more on eradicating the causes of migration in the originating
countries.

Earlier in the day Kuneva met with representatives of the
Bulgarian community in Finland, the Finland-Bulgaria Friendship
Association and teachers at a Sunday school where over 30
children study the Bulgarian history, literature and folk
dances.
