BwC Leader Barekov Files Defamation Petition against Politician Yane Yanev

Sofia, August 31 (BTA) - Nikolay Barekov MEP, leader of the
Bulgaria without Censorship (BwC) party, petitioned Prosecutor
General Sotir Tsatsarov against politician Yane Yanev, accusing
him of influence peddling, defamation and threats, BwC reported
on Monday.

The move was prompted by Yanev's statement that the Prosecution
will shortly bring a lawsuit against Barekov.

"If there is a way that Bulgaria's political power holders can
provide an umbrella for the Prosecution in order to attack
politically inconvenient persons, this is illegal and against
the Bulgarian Constitution, which provides for the division of
authority," Barekov wrote in his petition.

According to him, Yanev broke the law by using the media to
publicly threaten a person like himself, who, as a member of the
 European Parliament, enjoys immunity from prosecution.
