January-August Taxes Yield Lv 21.5 Bln - Finance Minister

Sofia, September 4 (BTA) - Tax revenues totalled 21.5 billion leva in the first eight months of the year, Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov said at Parliament's Question Time on Friday. This is 70.9 per cent of the annual projection and 12 per cent more than a year earlier in nominal terms.

Excise duties alone were up 320 million leva on January-August 2014.

Goranov was answering a question about budget revenue implementation.

Tax compliance has improved due to all the measures taken by the government, said Goranov. He singled out control over the payment of taxes, charges and social security contributions; a larger number of goods subject to fiscal control and to the VAT reverse charge procedure. The Council of Ministers holds weekly coordination meetings of the bodies fighting economic crime, Goranov also said.
