Tourism Minister: Focus on Target Markets
Sofia, September 27 (BTA) - Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova
told journalists on Sunday about a new aspect of the Ministry's
work - meetings with all major associations of tour operators.
She held such a meeting in Romania earlier this week.
Discussions with each of the target markets are forthcoming,
starting with Russia on November 19-20, along with Russian and
Bulgarian tour operators, journalists and hotel managers.
The Russian tourism minister is going to visit Bulgaria, said
Angelkova. This will mark a new beginning in bilateral
discussions with target markets. "We will talk about the
prospects of tourism in the two countries and pressing problems,
and will set a time frame for solving them," she said.
First and foremost, Bulgaria will ask that Russian tourists
should continue to visit it and that Russian children should
resume taking holidays in children's summer camps in Bulgaria,
Angelkova said. She stressed that she would call for cooperation
between the State and the private sector because tourism in
Bulgaria is 100 per cent in private hands.
She also said: "In early October we will visit the winter
resorts and will talk with the airports to check their flight
forecasts. Then we will finalize the data and will make analyses
and forecasts for the winter season."
On World Tourism Day marked on September 27, Angelkova opened a
photo exhibition entitled "Bulgaria: An Attractive Tourist
Destination" at Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport.
