Fourth EU-Southeast Europe Summit: Political and Economic Stability and Predictability Are Government's
Priorities

Sofia, October 14 (BTA) - Speaking at the Fourth EU-Southeast
Europe Summit in Sofia on Wednesday, Regional Development and
Public Works Minister Liliyana Pavlova said that the main thrust
of the government's efforts to achieve economic growth is on
political and economic stability and predictability.

The October 14-15 forum entitled "Countdown to Stability and
Growth?" is organized by The Economist.

Pavlova outlined the basic documents needed for Bulgaria's
balanced economic and regional development. She singled out the
importance of the National Spatial Development Concept, the
strategies for development of the road and water sectors and the
 support infrastructure.

Regarding the 2014-2020 programming period, Pavlova noted the
application of an integrated approach. She stressed this was the
last time there would be so large EU  funding for
infrastructure and roads, and under the Convergence objective
for Sofia.

The Regional Development Minister also noted the increased share
of financial engineering in the new programming period. It will
be instrumental in creating six revolving funds with a start-up
capital provided under Operational Programmes Regions in Growth
 and Environment.

Economy Minister Bozhidar Loukarski said the government would
focus on protecting the economic and financial stability and on
strengthening the confidence of local and foreign investors. He
stressed that Bulgaria had achieved GDP growth above the EU
average.
