PM Borissov Suggests EU Experts Monitor Judicial Reform, Prosecuting Magistracy

Brussels, December 17 (BTA correspondent Nikolay Jeliazkov) - Talking to Bulgarian journalists in Brussels, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said: "We would like [the EU to] help with our judicial reform by sending representatives who will monitor every step we make so we can be sure the reform is on the right track. We will not take this as an offence to the State."

He added: "If we are not doing something right and people are clearly disapproving, why shouldn't the EU send two or three experts? Two could go to the prosecuting magistracy to monitor every step so that our colleagues in Europe will be clear that efforts are being made."

Asked if this is a new idea, Borissov said it had just occurred to him.
