Minimum Wage Increased to LV 420

Sofia, December 23 (BTA) - The minimum wage will be increased to 420 leva from 380 leva as of January 1, 2016, the government press office said Wednesday.

The increase is expected to motivate those who are looking for a job and will improve the living standards of those earning a minimum wage and their families, the government said.

It is also expected to bring about lowering the number of the working poor and increase domestic consumption.

After the increase of the minimum wage, the hourly rate for a five-day working week and 8 hours of work per day will be 2.50 leva.
