Household Deposits Exceed Lv 45 Bln at End-2016

Sofia, February 9 (BTA) - At the end of the last quarter of 2016, Bulgarian households and household-serving non-profit institutions (HSNPIs) held 10,431,000 deposits, decreasing by 3.5 per cent compared with the last quarter of 2015, the Bulgarian National Bank reported on February 8. The total value of these deposits was 45,377,000,000 leva, increasing by 6.6 per cent.

Non-financial corporations held 590,000 deposits at the end of the last quarter of 2016, going up by 4.5 per cent compared with the last quarter of 2015. The total value of these deposits was 19,370,000,000 leva, rising by 6.3 per cent.

The aggregate number of deposits held by the two groups of depositors (households and HSNPIs, and non-financial corporations) was 11,021,000, falling by 3.1 per cent. Their total value was 64,747,000,000 leva, rising by 6.5 per cent.

The number of loans granted to households and HSNPIs stood at 2,603,000 at the end of the last quarter of 2016, decreasing by 0.5 per cent compared with the last quarter of 2015. Their total value was 18,513,000,000 leva, increasing by 2 per cent.

The number of loans granted to non-financial corporations was 139,000, rising by 4.1 per cent. Their total value was 30,732,000,000 leva, rising by 0.4 per cent.

The aggregate number of loans granted to the two groups of borrowers (households and HSNPIs, and non-financial corporations) was 2,742,000 at the end of the last quarter of 2016, which implies a decrease by 0.3 per cent. Their total value was 49,245,000,000 leva, going up by 1 per cent.
