Prime Minister Gerdjikov Commends Kulata Border Crossing Operation

Kulata Border Crossing, Southern Bulgaria, February 11 (BTA) - Caretaker Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdjikov commended the operation of the Kulata border crossing during a visit on Saturday. The prime minister familiarized himself with the work of the teams, their workload and the organization of work. Along with Interior Minister Plamen Ouzounov and Transport Minister Hristo Alexiev, Gerdjikov visited a joint contact centre manned by Bulgarian and Greek teams. He was received by the chiefs at the Greek border crossing Promachonas.

The Prime Minister told journalists that the situation is calm. With regard to lines on Greek territory Gerdjikov said that the answer should be sought from the Greek authorities.

Asked about how the Bulgarian authorities will react to a possible blockade by Greek farmers and a reciprocal blockade by Bulgarian drivers, Interior Minister Ouzounov said that he keeps in touch constantly with his Greek counterparts. According to the latest information from the Lessovo border crossing, there is no build up of trucks there.
