Leaders of Political Forces Vote for Change and Security

Sofia, March 26 (BTA) - Leaders of the political forces represented in the previous Parliament voted for change and security and expressed a hope for a high voter turnout.

GERB

After voting in Sofia's suburb of Bankya, GERB leader Boyko Borissov wrote on Facebook: "I voted for a stable, predictable, united Bulgaria. As of tomorrow, the nation should be united because it is faced with taxing problems."

Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP)

BSP Chairperson Kornelia Ninova said: "I voted for change, security along our borders and in our homes, and for justice. Every child should have access to education. Every person who needs treatment should have access to it. Small and medium-sized businesses should work in an environment free of pressure. More Bulgarians should have jobs and higher incomes." No foreign country to the east, west or south must be allowed to interfere in Bulgaria's internal affairs, she added.

Reformist Bloc

Meglena Kuneva, leader of the Bloc's Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement, said: "I voted to see Parliament staffed with people who know what matters most to Bulgaria and to Europe and know how to achieve it." She will continue pressing for the threshold on preferential voting to be eliminated. "If we want to respond to the public preference for a majoritarian voting system and hold the parties responsible, this is the way to go," she added.

Ataka Party

Ataka leader Volen Siderov, who voted in his hometown of Yambol, Southeastern Bulgaria, said: "I voted for the future of Bulgaria, for its children, who will ask one day: 'Daddy, what did you do when it was time to act?', so I can tell them with a clear conscience: 'I did what I had to do. I did my best to make sure Bulgarians live in dignity." He added: "Today is a nice day of hope, a day leading to a better future. I believe the Bulgarians will act wisely and will make the right choice today. There is no time and place for mistakes."
