Sofia, July 19 (BTA) - The National Trust EcoFund has announced a third call for projects for purchase of electric cars for a total of 1.3 million leva, Environment Minister Neno Dimov told a news briefing Wednesday. The new scheme aims to encourage the use of electric cars for the needs of municipal and state institutions.

This time the list of vehicles that will be financed by the scheme is significantly broadened from earlier calls for projects and includes electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.

The maximum amount for one vehicle is 20,000 leva for electric vehicles and 10,000 leva for hybrids.

The scheme seeks to improve the environment in population centres by reducing carbon emissions, particulate matter and noise pollution, and lowering maintenance costs, the Minister said.
