Blagoevgrad, South Western Bulgaria, December 4 (BTA) - Professor Liliya Ilieva of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Neofit Rilski South-West University Monday presented at her university for the first time a printed copy of the 17th-century manuscript on Bulgarian history written by Petar Bogdan. The original of Bogdan's historical work was recently found by Prof. Ilieva in Modena, Italy.

Petar Bogdan Baksic (1601-1674) was a Roman Catholic archbishop from Chiprovtsi (Northwestern Bulgaria), historian and a key Bulgarian National Revival figure. He completed his Latin treatise on Bulgarian history by relying on key European scientific texts and referring to Caesar Baronius and Mauro Orbini. The manuscript is 200 pages long and divided into 70 chapters.

Until now, only fragments of this historical work were known.
