Sofia, December 13 (BTA) - Since the beginning of 2017, some 10,000 workers have received back wages for a combined 17.1 million leva after an intervention by the General Labour Inspectorate, the organization said on Wednesday. In 2017 back wages totalled 27 million leva.

Since the start of the economic crisis until now tens of thousands workers have received 300 million leva in back wages.

The Inspectorate has warned multiple times that control over the timely payment of wages is very difficult because of a loophole which allows indebted companies to be easily transferred to persons without or registered at fictitious addresses.
