Sofia, January 5 (BTA) - The Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Poland, Boyko Borissov and Mateusz Morawiecki discussed bilateral relations in a phone call Thursday, the government press office reported. The two reconfirmed their commitment to understanding and cooperation that have been established in a variety of areas.

Borissov said that Poland is very important for the EU and added that unity is the only way ahead for the EU. "It is for a reason that Bulgaria picked 'United we stand strong' as the motto for its Presidency of the EU Council. It is a lesson we have learnt through history and during its Presidency Bulgaria will seek agreement and will work for unity in the EU," he is quoted as saying.

The Bulgarian government leader briefed his Polish counterpart on the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency and invited him to a Sofia summit on May 17 focusing on the Western Balkans.

The two Prime Ministers also discussed the opportunities for enhancing cooperation in tourism.

The Polish tourists who visited Bulgaria in January-November 2017 were close to 400,000, which was a 7.7 per cent increase from this time in 2016. During the same time, Bulgarian tourists to Poland showed the impressive growth of 35.3 per cent to over 60,000.
