site.btaTransport Minister Moskovsky Gives: End of June as Deadline for Submittal of Proposals for Sofia Airport Concession Award
Sofia, January 9 (BTA) - The preliminary studies for the award of a concession on the Sofia Airport performed by international institutions are expected to be ready within a month, Transport, IT and Communications Minister Ivailo Moskovski told reporters on Tuesday. The studies will then be reviewed and the concession award procedure will resume. Proposals will be possible to submit by the end of June, Moskovski said.
Started in the term of the second cabinet of incumbent Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, the procedure for the award of a concession on the airport was terminated by a caretaker cabinet in April 2017. On Tuesday Moskovsky again noted that the purpose of the concession is to improve the management of the airport and raise funds for the struggling Bulgarian Railways Company.
The restarted procedure involved the commissioning of international advisors - the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Sofia Airport is one of the biggest state-owned assets.
