Sofia, January 12 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker discussed the partnership between the Bulgarian Government and the Commission during the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council (January-June 2018) when they conferred here on Friday, the Government Information Service said.

The two stressed that the relations of trust and cooperation between the Cabinet members who will chair the EU Council meetings and the commissioners are a prerequisite for making progress on the outstanding issues.

The PM noted that during its 10 year membership of the Union Bulgaria has amassed experience in the management of the various crises through which the EU has gone and will remain actively involved in the discussions on the Union's future. "We have a great responsibility over the next six months, but we remain a reliable partner in the search for agreement on the most important topics for the community. We attach exceptional importance to the strengthening of EU unity," the Bulgarian head of government emphasized.

The Prime Minister and the European Commission President expect an improvement of dialogue with the EU neighbouring countries. "Your priority - the Western Balkans, is our priority, too," Juncker said.
