site.btaEC Delegation Praises Anti-organized Crime Unit's Work in Countering Cybercrime

Sofia, January 20 (BTA) - The leadership of the Chief Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime (CDCOC) held a working meeting here with a European Commission (EC) delegation, the Interior Ministry reported Saturday. The meeting was attended by Juhan Lepassaar, head of EC Vice President and Digital Single Market Commissioner Andrus Ansip's Cabinet, Lora Borissova, head of EU Digital Economy and Society Commissioner Mariya Gabriel's Cabinet, and the EC's Communications Networks, Content and Technology Director General, Roberto Viola.

The head of CDCOC, Chief Commissioner Ivailo Spiridonov, has presented his Directorate's powers and the established mechanism for countering cybercrime. The meeting focused on the measures taken within the EU for ensuring better cyber hygiene for European citizens and consolidating all the efforts by all Member States and European institutions for combatting cybercrime.

The EC representatives have praised CDCOC's leadership for their efforts made to counter cybercrime. They highly assessed CDCOC's public-private partnership and awareness campaigns, aimed at protecting people from the various forms of cybercrime. The members of the delegation have also offered their support and help with the implementation of common goals in the sectors of cybersecurity and cybercrime, the press release said.
