Sofia, February 3 (BTA) - Bulgaria has not expressed a position about increasing the country's contribution to the EU budget, the Finance Ministry said in a press release late on Friday evening.

Responding to media publications which said that eight countries, Bulgaria including, have agreed to increase their contributions to the EU budget after Britain's exit, the Bulgarian government says that such a position has not been discussed in either a working or official format of negotiations between the member states and the European Commission.

The first proposal of the EC about the EU's budget for the next programming period is expected to be presented in May 2018. Debates on the multiannual financial framework are scheduled to be held during the Bulgarian EU Presidency, when Sofia will host two thematic high-level conferences in March and June.
