Sofia, February 3 (BTA) - The first Salon of Museums opens in the National Palace of Culture convention centre in Sofia on March 3, Bulgaria's National Day, with free admission, the organizers of the event said. The idea is to show in one place replicas of art masterpieces and the work of Bulgarian museums who play a key role in the promotion of Bulgaria's rich cultural and historical heritage.

Nearly 40 museums and several galleries from across the country will take part in the event. A special selection of museum collections exhibits will be showecased in March 3 through to 5.

Among the participants are archaeological, ethnographic, historical, and regional museums three galleries from 15 Bulgarian cities.

Curator of the salon Ivelina Kyuchoukova said that Bulgaria's cultural and historical heritage had a substantial contribution in the formation of the European civilization so that the event is a good opportunity for foreign visitors to see and appreciate it.
