Brussels, February 20 (BTA Correspondent Nikolay Jeliazkov) - National Assembly Chair Tsveta Karayancheva Tuesday called for the EU Cohesion Policy to be preserved in the Union's budget until 2027. She was co-presiding over a meeting of parliamentary representatives of the EU Member States, held at the European Parliament (EP) in Brussels.

Addressing the participants in the forum, Karayancheva said that the Member States are united by their parliaments' efforts to contribute to financial growth in the EU. She called for unity and solidarity, and added that the debate on the EU's future has been set in the foreground by the Bulgarian EU Council Presidency.

Karayancheva went on to say that during its EU Presidency, Bulgaria is working for further integration of the Economic and Monetary Union. "I support the raising of the question about a common budget of the Eurozone. The EU will benefit from a maximum number of countries joining the euro," she added. She also raised the question about the effect of Brexit on the Union's budget.

One of the priorities of the Bulgarian EU Presidency is the reduction of the economic and social differences within the EU, Karayancheva said. In her words, the debate on the future of the EU Cohesion Policy is of particular importance for Bulgaria and for catching up with the more advanced Member States.
