European Commission Approves
Additional Technical Aid Requested by Bulgaria
through Structural Reform Support Programme

Sofia, August 9 (BTA) - The European Commission (EC) has approved additional technical aid Bulgaria has requested through the Structural Reform Support Programme (SRSP), the Representation of the EC in Sofia said on Thursday.

The decision allows the financing of projects for reforms of insolvency procedures, accompanying measures to improve the court infrastructure and the management of state-owned companies.

The working programme attached to the decision outlines the concrete actions that will be financed and indicates the priorities, objectives and expected outcomes of the projects. The reforms are also important in connection with the gradual transition to ERM II. The Bulgarian authorities have committed to implementing a number of preliminary conditions in the context of the expected accession of the country to ERM II and the banking union by July 2019.

SRSP was set up in 2015 to help member states design and implement institutional, administrative and structural reforms and use EU funds that are available for such purposes more efficiently and effectively. The main goal of the programme is to help a country implement growth-enhancing structural reforms. These should help enhance competitiveness, increase productivity and sustainable growth, create jobs, and boost investment, in particular in the context of economic governance processes.

The support is provided to the member state's authorities upon a request from the respective member state. LY/ZH//
