Sofia, December 2 (BTA) - The European Air Quality Index map showed poor and very poor air quality in several Bulgarian cities on Sunday. The air quality index reflects the levels of fine particulate matter (PM).

Pollution on the map was worst (very poor) in Sofia, Plovdiv, Pernik, Veliko Turnovo, Shoumen and Varna.

According to the national Executive Agency for Environment, the exceedance of the maximum permissible level for PM10 in Bulgaria was highest in the Sofia borough of Pavlovo (3.99 times above the maximum permissible level of 50.0 хg/m3 for a day). LN/
