site.btaEkaterina Zaharieva to Attend NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting
December 3 (BTA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign
Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva will attend the upcoming Foreign
Affairs Ministers meeting of NATO on December 4 and 5 in
Brussels, said the Foreign Ministry on Monday.
The talks will focus on international security, the
transatlantic relationship and the Member States' commitment to
united defence. Ministers will also discuss the strengthening of
NATO's role in counter-terrorism, the partnership with Iraq and
the situation in Libya.
With the participation of the EU's High Representative for
Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, the
Allies will discuss the development of the Western Balkans, with
particular attention to the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the
countries in the region. A joint session with Georgia and
Ukraine will discuss current challenges for regional security,
including the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
The forum will conclude with a meeting with the operational
partners of the Resolute Support Mission, focusing on the
overall security situation in Afghanistan, the parliamentary
elections in the country, the preparations for the upcoming 2019
presidential election and the reconciliation process. RY/DT
