Government's Security Council
Holds Extraordinary
Meeting

Sofia, March 20 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov called an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council with the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, the Government Information Service said. The situation following the terrorist acts in New Zealand and the Netherlands was on the agenda.

It was concluded that the terrorist attack in New Zealand is an individual act. The person arrested for the attack, who visited Bulgaria at the end of 2018, is not known to have been in contact with any Bulgarian nationals. The case is being handled jointly with allied and partner services in other countries and with international organizations. The Interior Ministry and the Bulgarian security service are checking, augmenting and particularizing the data feed, the press release says.

The Security Council also discussed the energy projects under implementation in the Eastern Mediterranean in the context of Bulgaria's national interests. An opinion was expressed that reconciling certain differences or contradictions between the parties concerned benefits regional stability and the European countries' energy security, the Government Information Service said.
