Sofia, April 22 (BTA) - Socialist MP Elena Yoncheva, who now heads her party's list for the forthcoming European Parliament elections, has provided the Specialized Prosecutor's Office with an original record made by a Culture Ministry official and relevant to an affair involving Culture Minister Boil Banov. Yoncheva told a news conference on Monday that "this time the Specialized Prosecutor's Office will not be able to avoid investigation".

In February, Yoncheva presented documents and records to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office which, according to her, prove that Culture Minister Banov forged documents in order to hide a penalty of 700,000 leva for delays in the second and third stages of a Sofia Largo's construction project. On April 12, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office refused to launch pre-trial proceedings against Banov, saying there was no evidence of any wrongdoing.

Speaking of this development, Yoncheva said so far she had never had the original recording. At the time when she had presented the documents she had a digital copy that had been sent to her.

"Now we have the original record made by a Culture Ministry official," Yoncheva pointed out, declaring that that would be presented to the prosecuting magistracy by the end of the day./IG/BR
