September 13 (BTA) - A civil committee has nominated Ataka party leader Volen Siderov for mayor of Sofia to run in the October 27 local elections, the party's press centre said Friday. Following media publications about Ataka supporting GERB's mayoral candidate, Yordanka Fandakova, many citizens and Ataka members contacted Siderov requesting that he run in the local elections in the capital, the press release specifies.

A day earlier, Siderov told journalists that his party will support Fandakova nomination. In his words, Ataka should support GERB because the two parties are coalition partners, and Fandakova should continue her work for Sofia Municipality.
