Minister Dimov
Resigns

Sofia, January 10 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has accepted the resignation of Environment and Waters Minister Neno Dimov, the government information service said on Friday. The news comes a day after
Dimov was arrested and taken into 24-hour custody amid a severe water crisis in the western town of Pernik and a scandal over imported waste.

The Prosecutor General's Spokesperson Siika Mileva said that on Friday the prosecution service will decide whether to bring charges against Dimov and whether to extend his detention to 72 hours.

On Thursday Borissov said that the resignation would be discussed by the parties in the ruling coalition. On Friday morning Deputy Prime Minister Krassimir Karakachanov confirmed to journalists that he had discussed Dimov's resignation with the Prime Minister but would not say what they had decided.

Dimov was nominated for the ministerial office by Karakachanov's VMRO party.

Karakachanov called Dimov's arrest 'a public killing'. RY/PP
