site.btaDeputy PM Proposes Urgent Measures in Aid of Farm Producers

April 10 (BTA) - Deputy Prime Minister in charge of public order and security, and Defence Minister Krassimir Karakachanov has submitted to the government four urgent measures in aid of part of the Bulgarian farming sector, says a press release of his party, VMRO.

The suggested measures are banning import of seasonal foreign produce until the Bulgarian produce has been finished, problem-free movement of workers to arable land, access to farmland by the owners, and extending the 60-40 jobs retention programme to seasonal farm workers.

The purpose of the suggested measures is to aid the sowing, growing and harvesting of farm produce that ensures the food of the Bulgarian population in the conditions of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The suggested measures were formulated after meetings with farm producers. RI/ZH
