Burgas, on the Black Sea, June 23 (BTA) - The popular Harmanite beach in Sozopol,
on the southern stretch of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast,
welcomes holiday makers with a new outlook and a Blue Flag
distinction, the management of the beach told BTA.

The beach has undergone a complete overhaul and welcomes sun and
sea lovers with a new appearance. Lamps have been installed
along the entire beach strip and illuminate it when darkness
falls. The promenade has been cleared of all unsightly kiosks
and stalls. The beach has its own First Aid facility. Also, half
of the beach has been set aside as an admission-free area.

A member of the management of Harmanite said that a beach
drainage system has been installed, in cooperation with the
Sozopol local administration, which has solved a huge problem.
Heavy flooding in the spring had caused serious damage and
hollowed out the shore, but thanks to the joint work with the
town hall, the beach strip was restored in full. The management
of the beach is pleased with the accomplishments, thanks to
which Harmanite has been included in the list of the best
beaches in Bulgaria. Also, the Blue Flag distinction awarded to
the beach is seen as another recognition of the efforts to
implement the stringent requirements of the Danish-based
Foundation for Environmental Education.

The beach has attractive new eating and drinking establishments
which are open during the day. There are no discos on the beach
strip of Harmanite. NV/ZH
