The Master of Art Film Festival is organized by Spotlight Production Company, the National Palace of Culture and the Master of Art Foundation with the financial support of the Municipality of Sofia, AURUBIS BULGARIA, and the Bulgarian National Film Centre. It focuses on different artistic approaches to art through documentary cinema. The mission of the Master of Art Film Festival is to create an alternative platform to mass culture by being the biggest forum in Eastern Europe for young documentary film makers.

The festival will open in Lumiere Cinema in Sofia with two Bulgarian films - "The Twisted Life of a Pastry Chef" by Maria Viktoria Kuzmanova, a short film about the life of Alexander Tsekoff, and the full-length documentary "Born of Fire", directed by Sasha Hadjieva, which explores the fire art culture in Bulgaria.

There are 11 Bulgarian titles competing for the Best Bulgarian Art Documentary Award established by the State Institute for Culture with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The top honour, the Master of Art Aurubis Award, as well as the other category awards will be announced on September 11.

Altogether 18 short films and 50 full-length documentaries will be presented at the festival within the categories of Architecture, Design and Fashion, Art and Power, Contemporary Art, Culinary Art, Fine Art, Photography, Literature, Music and Dance, Theatre and Cinema.

The festival will have film screenings in both indoor and outdoor venues. Outdoor locations include Sofia Summer Fest, the G8 Cinema, as well as the outdoor cinema at 23 Shipka St.

For the first time the Master of Art Film Festival will have screenings at BTA's Maxim Multimedia Centre, as BTA is a media partner of the event this year. The tickets for the festival cost 10 leva. For the 24 film screenings happening at the Maxim Centre tickets will be sold at the cash desk of BTA. YV/VE
