site.btaCOVID-19 Update: 1,228 New Cases Confirmed, Test Positivity Rate at 10.7%

October 3 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 505,481, after 11,505 tests identified 1,228 new infections on Saturday, October 2, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate for the day was 10.7 per cent.



Some 85.10 per cent of the new cases are people who have not been vaccinated against the disease.

Sofia City tops the list of new cases with 346 positive tests, followed by Plovdiv Region with 110 and Varna Region with 107.

The active cases are 45,899. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,217, including 465 in intensive care. Out of 133 newly hospitalized patients on Saturday, 90.23 per cent were not vaccinated.

The medical staff infected since the beginning of the pandemic reached 14,543, including 4,105 doctors and 4,903 nurses.

Twenty-six fatalities were reported on Saturday; 92.31 per cent of them had not been vaccinated. The death toll now adds up to 20,995.

Another 359 COVID-19 patients recovered in 24 hours, bringing the total to 438,587.

With 2,283 new inoculations on Saturday, 2,548,995 vaccine doses have been administered so far. VE
