site.btaCOVID-19 Update: 2,836 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 8.7%

Sofia, October 31 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 601,035, after 32,588 tests identified 2,836 new infections on Saturday, according to data posted Sunday on the national coronavirus information platform at https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 8.7 per cent.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 728 positive tests, followed by Varna Region with 328 cases and Plovdiv Region with 281 cases.

The active cases are 98,948. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 7,880, including 685 in intensive care. Of the 417 newly hospitalized patients, 87.05% per
cent are unvaccinated.

A total of 46 fatalities were reported, of whom 91.30% per cent were not vaccinated, and the death toll now adds up to 23,918.

Another 639 COVID-19 patients recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 478,169.

With 7,740 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,855,224 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,508,365 people were fully vaccinated and 17,977 people have received a booster dose. RY/MY
