site.btaBulgarian Court Allows Russian Suspect's Extradition

November 25 (BTA) - The Varna District Court (VDC) gave the green light to the extradition of Russian national Vladimir B., 58, who is under investigation in Russia for gross fraud. The judicial authorities in St Petersburg had requested the man's arrest and extradition. In 2017, he was put on an international wanted persons list by Interpol, the VDC said on Thursday.

According to information supporting the Russian authorities' request, Vladimir and a few other persons are charged with fraudulent acquisition of particularly large amounts of assets.

Vladimir was arrested during a police check in Varna in October 2021. He has been in custody all along. Thursday's extradition decision is final and unappealable, and should be carried out immediately, VDC said. RY/VE
