site.btaBulgaria Gets First Ever Nomination for European Enterprise Promotion Awards

Sofia, July 29 (BTA) - The Brandiko project of the Bulgarian Economy and Energy Ministry has been nominated by the European Commission for the European Enterprise Promotion Awards, the Ministry said on Tuesday.

This is the first Bulgarian nomination for the prestigious awards of the European Commission. The country has taken part in the contest every year since 2009.

The Brandiko project is aimed to teach students in secondary schools how to create a brand and to understand the meaning of intellectual property. The project was launched in 2011 and has had four installments so far. One way to protect a brand in the EU is to register it as a Community Trade Mark, the press release said. Bulgaria ranks 20th in the EU in terms of share of brands registered as Community Trade Marks.

The Bulgarian nomination is in the award category "Investing in entrepreneurial skills." In this category, the Bulgarian project will compete with three other projects by Britain, Germany and Serbia. The winner will be named in Naples, Italy, on October 2 during the 2014 SME Assembly.
