Weather in December: Lows
from Minus 10 to 5C,
Highs from 9 to 14C


Sofia, November 28 (BTA) - In December, the lowest temperatures
will vary from minus 10 to 5C and the highest temperatures from
9 to 14C, said meteorologist Mariana Popova of the National
Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology with the Bulgarian
Academy of Sciences.

In her words, the average monthly temperature this December will
be around the norm: 0C in Northern Bulgaria and high plains, 2
to 3C in Southern Bulgaria, 4C along the Black Sea coast and
southernmost areas, and from minus 5 to minus 1C in the
mountains.

The average monthly precipitation will be around and above the
norm: between 30 and 60 l/sq in most of the country, and
between 60 and 120 l/sq in southernmost areas and the
mountains.

Popova forecast that December will start with a sligth increase
of temperatures and rain showers in most of the country, which
will turn into snow in many parts of Western and Northern
Bulgaria. Towards December 5 a northeasterly wind will gradually
pick up and bring in colder air. The showers will stop towards
December 10.

In the period from December 10 to 20, the weather will be
changeable, with temperatures close to the norm and possible
showers. Snow is expected in many parts of the country. The
temperatures will increase slightly towards the end of this
period.

The last ten days of December will have snowy weather and lower
temperatures, Popova forecast.
