Workers of Dunarit Stage Peaceful Protest

Sofia, March 10 (BTA) - More than 500 workers of ammunition
manufacturer Dunarit Corp. of Rousse organized a peaceful
protest in the region of Danube Bridge.

The workers protested against the suspending of the company's
licence earlier this month. The company manufactures aviation,
artillery and engineering ammunition and articles for civilian
use.

The protestors raised slogans: "Dunarit Has Existed for 112
Years and Will Continue to Exist without You", "Do Not Expel
Young People from the Country!", "We Want to Work in Bulgaria!"
and "Resignation!" However, they did not block the traffic.

Dunarit CEO Krustyu Krustev said that the Administrative Court
in Sofia ruled on the halting of the enforcement of the decision
on the suspending of the companyТs licence. The
Interdepartmental Council on Defence Industry and Security of
Supplies, which has issued the decision may appeal the court
ruling within a seven-day term.

Krustev said that a letter has been sent to the
Interdepartmental Council with a request for export of the
company's produce. "A shipment of ready produce was frustrated
due to the suspending of the licence. The same will happen to
other two scheduled shipments. Hitherto losses have been
calculated at around 2 million leva and they are expected to
increase up to 4 million by the month's end," said Krustev.

Representatives of the Reformist Bloc said during the week that
the idea of the suspended licence is to export the companyТs
produce through another licensed company.
