GERB Nominates Outgoing Ombudsman Penchev for Constitutional Court

Sofia, September 10 (BTA) - The GERB Parliamentary Group will
nominate outgoing National Ombudsman Konstantin Penchev for
member of the Constitutional Court on the National Assembly
quota, the party's Floor Leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov told
journalists on Thursday. The nomination was discussed at a
meeting of the Parliamentary Group on Wednesday, and Penchev
himself agreed to be nominated.

"This is a man of integrity, the entire group unanimously backs
his nomination, and when the procedure for submission of
documents starts, we will submit this proposal," Tsvetanov
explained. He hopes that the election will take place before the
 local elections and adamantly denied that Penchev's nomination
is the result of a deal or scenario related to Maya Manolova's
election to succeed him as National Ombudsman before
Parliament's summer recess.

Penchev's nomination has been coordinated with Prime Minister
Boyko Borissov. The GERB Parliamentary Group has not considered
another nominee for the Constitutional Court.
