Bulgaria to Host Next Arraiolos Meeting in 2016

Erfurt, Germany, September 22 (BTA) - Bulgaria will host the next Arraiolos Group meeting in 2016, the Presidents who are members of the Group decided at their 11th meeting in Erfurt, the Press Secretariat of Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev said on Tuesday.

On the second day of the meeting, the Bulgarian leader was welcomed by the host of this year's forum, German Federal President Joachim Gauck.

Germany's head of State is expected to pay an official visit to Bulgaria shortly as a token of the good friendly ties and support between the two countries.

The last German Federal President to visit Bulgaria was Horst Kohler, in July 2007.

Regarding the unprecedented migration pressure on the European countries, President Plevneliev outlined the pressing need of a consolidated European approach to identifying solutions. "There is positive energy, a willingness to cooperate and to speak in a common voice. We call on the governments to find appropriate solutions. Only together we can solve all problems that confront us. This is the message of the past days of this meeting," the head of State pointed out.

The 11 presidents of the Arraiolos Group also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, and in Greece after the parliamentary elections.

Plevneliev described Bulgaria's hosting of the next Arraiolos Meeting in 2016 as a historic success for Bulgaria and for Bulgarian foreign policy.

The agenda of the next Arraiolos Meeting will be coordinated shortly, and as the President put it, Bulgaria will definitely place the topic of Southeastern Europe at the centre of its foreign policy.
