Bulgaria Will Receive Immediately 852 Migrants Relocated from Italy, Greece, EU Council Decides

Brussels, September 23 (BTA correspondent Nikolay Jeliazkov) - Bulgaria will receive immediately 852 migrants who have arrived so far in Italy and Greece, according to a Decision establishing provisional measures in the area of international protection for the benefit of Italy and Greece that the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council adopted here on Monday.

More specifically, 201 applicants for international protection will be relocated to Bulgaria from Italy (out of a total of 15,600) and 651 from Greece (out of a total of 50,400).

In July, Bulgaria agreed to receive 500 third-country nationals relocated from Italy and Greece. Tuesday's decision brings the total number of migrants relocated to this country to 1,352.

For each person relocated pursuant to Tuesday's Decision, Bulgaria will receive a lump sum of 6,000 euro.

The Decision will enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the "Official Journal of the European Union".
